I Hate Eating Fruit

This morning involved sleeping in and a late breakfast. We finally finished off the potato, asparagus frittata that I made at the beginning of this week. I want to make another one, but this time I’ll add turkey sausage to the mix. Sounds soooo good.

We ate it with a side of turkey bacon and avocado topped with salt and pepper. We also stole a few raspberries from the fridge. I found raspberries on sale at the store and nearly passed out from excitement. They might be my all time favorite fruit.

I’m actually not a huge fan of fruit. I love vegetables of all kind; I can’t think of a single one that I don’t like, but when it comes to fruit, I can be really picky. I don’t like bananas, peaches, oranges, plums, mangoes, etc… even more common fruits like grapes and apples don’t really do it for me. I kind of have to make myself eat fruit unless it’s a melon or berries, which of course are some of the most expensive fruits. Just my luck.

One way I try to sneak fruit into my diet is by making smoothies. I haven’t been making nearly as many smoothies as I used to, but I made one this morning using frozen fruit, almond/cashew milk, and spinach. You really can’t taste the spinach. All it does is turn your smoothie a dark brown/red color, which can be a turn-off to some people, but it literally tastes the same as it would without the spinach. There is no good reason not to add it to your drink.

Now I’m off to clean, possibly run in this chilly, sunny weather, and try to tame a cat that keeps coming to our back porch but then running away before I can get too close.

I’m thinking an open door and some fish might do the trick.

  1. I was looking at those porch lights (solared powered, right?) on Amazon and thinking about getting them …are they worth it? I love vegetables and fruit but I get more excited about fruit. My mom says it’s due to our Costa Rican heritage. I very often put spinach in my smoothies. And chia seeds and turmeric powder. Wow, my husband just got home and gave me some of those lights. Serendipitously. Goodnight!
