Friday Favorites #1

I’m going to preface this post, once again, with the fact that I love reading other people’s blog posts about some of their favorite finds, activities, or just whatever they have been enjoying and loving that week. Usually these posts land on Fridays, so I’m going to steal this idea and begin the day by making a list of some of my favorite things from the week. I actually sort of started doing this years ago, but instead of making a list of my favorite things, I made a list of what I was looking forward to that weekend. I might switch between the two types of posts on Fridays from now on. I just think it’s a fun idea and a lighthearted way to enter the weekend.

  • Indoor plants

This is seriously a novelty. For the longest time, our cat Jerry would obsess over any plant we tried to keep indoors. He would stalk them and eat the leaves, but he is finally growing up (haha). While he does still try to nibble on the leaves of our plants occasionally, he’s been doing a lot better with this. I loooove having these pretty plants inside. They make me instantly happy when I look at them. Such a simple thing, but at the moment, it’s one of my favorite things about our new home!

  • New coffee shop

It’s been fun exploring our new town, and this past weekend, John and I went to a coffee shop called The Mill. I thought it was really cool because the shop is inside an old “abandoned” brick building. The building is huge and dilapidated, but that’s what makes it so interesting!  I just think it’s neat that they took this old building that could have been torn down and replaced with a newer building, and they made it into something new.  I wish I had gotten more pictures.

  • Visit from my mom + antique shopping

My mom came for a visit earlier this week. We shopped, got coffee, and ate lots of good food! It was really fun having her here. We went to an antique store called The Antiques Parlour that we both really loved. A lot of times, antique stores can be way overpriced, but the prices at this store were very reasonable! I found this amazing cabinet (in great shape and looking brand new). I bought it but am waiting for John’s help to go pick it up from the store and bring it home. I’m a sucker for older furniture. It’s usually made so much better than newer furniture.

  • Horseradish

Ok, I know this one is kind of random and strange, but seriously…I’m on this horseradish kick lately. The more powerful the horseradish the better. I got these products at Aldi in the speciality/sale refrigerated section. I’m obsessed with these pickles.

  • Lasaters breakfast

My brother and sister-in-law gave me a gift card for Lasaters. It’s a Christian-run coffee chain that began in Tennessee in 2004, and so far they only have shops in TN. I was sooo happy to find they have one in Cleveland. There are only 6 or 7 in the whole state, so to have one here seems like such a treat. Since I have my gift card, I’ve treated myself to this addicting sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel (my favorite type of bagel in the world) and a specialty coffee (I usually don’t purchase these because they are expensive and full of sugar, but sometimes I can’t resist, especially with a gift card in hand!) I honestly like Lasaters coffee way more than Starbucks. I wish there were more of these in the country so everyone could try it! But, if you live in the Nashville, Clarksville, or Cleveland area, you’re in for a treat.

That about sums up some of my favorite things from the week! Leave a comment and tell me what you’ve been loving this week. Have a great weekend!
